Executive Profiles Ken Peterka, President and Chief Executive Officer Ken Peterka, President and founder of Captovation (formerly Complex Imaging Systems), has been in the document imaging industry since 1992 and founded Captovation in 1994. Ken is responsible for the vision of the company’s flagship software product, Captovation Capture. In addition, Ken oversees all operations of the company, including developing and maintaining strategic business relationships and leading product marketing, engineering, and services efforts. Ken transitioned Captovation from a consulting/services company to a software product company in 1999 with the release of eCapture. Since the release, Captovation has been awarded with the Business Journal’s Growth 50 Award and a two-time winner of Deloitte’s (formerly Deloitte and Touche) Fast 50 Award for increasing revenue growth.
Prior to starting Captovation, Ken worked as a programmer/analyst for AMI Imaging Systems in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he developed custom integrations and provided pre-sales and post-sales support for document imaging systems. While serving in the United States Army from 1988-1992, Ken received his A.A.S. degree in business computer programming and analysis from Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas.
Rob Abbe, Chief Product Architect Rob Abbe joined Captovation in February 1995 as a software engineer. He was later promoted to Senior Software Engineer and then named the Chief Product Architect in 1999. Rob has been involved in the IT industry since 1989 and is responsible for the architecture and development of Captovation’s product suite. He is responsible for keeping abreast of all emerging industry technologies, in addition to, overseeing the technological direction of Captovation’s products.
Rob began his career developing PC based Sales Force Automation for Firepond (formerly Clear with Computers) software company in Minnesota and has experience in developing desktop and enterprise applications. Rob holds technology certifications from leading industry vendors such as Sun, Microsoft, and Novell including, network Java certified programmer, Visual Basic, and Novell Netware.
John Smetana, Director of Channel Sales
John Smetana joined Captovation in July 2001
as the Director of Channel Sales. John’s responsibilities include
supporting Captovation’s existing reseller partners as well expanding
new national and international business partner relationships. Prior
to joining Captovation, John was the Director of Business Development
for Impetus Computing Systems, a company that provides consulting and
outsourced software development services. John has been involved in
sales and business development in the IT industry since 1984,
integrating systems, custom developed software solutions, consulting and
professional services. John
graduated from the Minnesota School of Business and has attended
numerous sales business development and technical training seminars as
well as becoming a Certified Document Imaging Architect (CDIA) in 2001.
Jason Lamon, Director of Marketing Communications Jason Lamon joined Captovation in February of 1999 and was named the Director of Marketing Communications in January of 2000. Jason's responsibilities include developing and executing all communications and marketing plans regarding Captovation and its software products. He is in charge of coordinating trade shows, developing advertising materials and promotional pieces, and he also serves as the editor for both the corporate Internet and Intranet. In addition, Jason is responsible for lead generation and distribution to Captovation reseller partners. Jason received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Strategic Communications: Public Relations from the University of Minnesota.
