  Check Capture (4 minutes).

Electronic Check Exchange

Captovation Check Capture offers an efficient and economical system for forward presentment in the Check 21, electronic check exchange (ECE) environment. While enabling financial institutions to capture checks at their earliest point of presentment, Check Capture can also help those institutions save on costs associated with check item processing.

Benefits of Check Capture

By truncating checks at the branch-level, you can leverage the many benefits check imaging has to offer:

  • Reduced float costs

  • Reduced shipping costs

  • Reduced labor costs

  • Increased protection from fraud

  • Lower risk of lost items

  • Lower risk of transit delays

Transmitting Checks Electronically

Captovation Check Capture supports the creation of Image Cash Letters (ICLs). The ICL files—complete with check images and MICR data—are electronically transmitted to a clearinghouse for faster check clearing or used to print Image Replacement Documents (IRDs).

Eliminate Manual Encoding

Physical encoding of checks can be eliminated with Check 21. Check Capture features a rapid data entry interface, which enables you to electronically encode checks. In addition, you can use Check Capture's CAR/LAR recognition option to reduce data entry.

Features:

  • Image Cash Letter option

  • Duplicate item detection

  • Batch total balancing

  • Amount recognition option

  • Supports popular desktop check scanners

  • Auto MICR parsing

  • Manual Cash Letter support

  • Customizable (VBA-compatible)

The Branch Capture Process

In the above scenario, checks deposited at the branch are immediately imaged with a check scanner powered by Captovation Check Capture. An ICL file is then created and electronically transmitted to the Bank of First Deposit (BOFD). From there, all transit items are sent to the intermediary (clearinghouse) and/or electronic document management system so you can archive and retrieve your check images.
