Captovation Releases eCapture™ Version 4.2
New
version features enhanced browser-based document capture component
Minneapolis, MN, February
25, 2002 -- Captovation, which develops production-level and Internet-based
document capture software for the Enterprise, has officially released the latest
version of their flagship product eCapture.
Highlighting the release is a new version of ecNet, eCapture’s
browser-based document capture component.
The newest version of ecNet now supports three remote capture methods: scan
only, scan and index documents, and scan and index batches (groups of
documents). The scan and index
batches capability was added to the latest release, and provides users with the
ability to scan multiple batches and perform post document indexing.
Now, remote ecNet users will be able to scan and index a larger number of
documents much quicker.
“As one of the pioneers of browser-based document capture, we are committed to
the success of ecNet,” said Ken Peterka, President and CEO of Captovation.
“A big part of that success lies in Captovation’s drive to
continually improve our product offering. We
do this by listening to what our partners and customers have to say, and the
result is a greatly enhanced version of ecNet for eCapture.”
The ecNet Client can now be customized using VBScript™,
which runs directly inside the browser.
For example, this allows users to query a database from their remote
sites to retrieve index information or perform custom field validation. ecNet also features “drag and drop” functionality, which
gives users the ability to shuffle pages within batches. ecNet features a new look as changes have been made to the
user interface as well.
Support has also been added in ecNet for Microsoft’s Secure Socket Layer.
This ensures secure transmission of document images sent over the
Internet to the central site.
ecNet consists of two components: ecNet Client and ecNet Server.
The ecNet Client is automatically
downloaded and installed as soon as a user connects to the ecNet Server, and
runs entirely within Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (no imaging plug-in
needed). ecNet Client uses the
industry standard TWAIN (www.twain.org)
interface to capture documents from desktop scanners or other TWAIN compliant
input devices.
eCapture 4.2 enables companies to implement a production-level document capture
system, a remote document capture system, or a hybrid capture system that
incorporates both environments. For
example, a company with many remote offices, such as an insurance company, can
use ecNet to scan claim documents at their remote offices, and then use ecIndex
to index and begin processing the claim documents at their corporate
headquarters.
Captovation will demonstrate ecNet and the entire eCapture 4.2 product
line in booth number 2346 at the 2002 AIIM Conference and Exposition being held
in San Francisco from March 6 through March 8.
