Captovation
Releases Native-ISIS Version of ecScan for eCapture Minneapolis,
MN, October 1, 2003 --
Captovation, a leading provider of production-level and browser-based
document capture software, released
today the latest version of ecScan – eCapture’s production-level scanning
component. ecScan now has the
ability to directly interface with ISIS (Image and Scanner Interface
Specification) scanning drivers. “I
truly believe that this gives us a competitive advantage within the
marketplace,” said Ken Peterka,
Captovation’s President and CEO. “We
now provide native scanning interfaces
for both Kofax Adrenaline® and ISIS, a fact that some of our major
competitors cannot state. We are
able to offer support for the unique capabilities of each platform with no bias
towards either scanner technology. Our
resellers and customers now have a choice when purchasing eCapture.”
ISIS®
is a software driver technology designed by Pixel Translations (www.pixtran.com).
ISIS provides a standard interface to document scanners along with a variety of
image processing features. ISIS has
become the “de-facto” standard within the document imaging industry. As a
result, most document scanner manufacturers provide ISIS drivers with their
scanners. With this new ISIS integration, ecScan now supports over 250 document
scanner models. Previously,
ecScan for eCapture only supported the Adrenaline and VRS® (VirtualReScan)
scanning interfaces developed by Kofax (www.kofax.com).
Adrenaline and VRS are available in both software and hardware (Video or
SCSI card) versions. The new
version of ecScan will help to reduce overall system costs by eliminating the
need to purchase Adrenaline engines when technology such as VRS is not required.
Nonetheless, Captovation will continue to offer long-term support for
Adrenaline and VRS technology. This new version of ecScan also features document image thumbnail support. After scanning a batch of documents, users can review the batch and see thumbnails of every image. Thumbnails can be displayed in three different sizes, so that they can be enlarged enough to distinguish document types. ecScan thumbnails also have drag-and-drop functionality, which gives users the ability to easily re-order images within a batch. Image Processing features - including bar code and patch code recognition, blank page deletion, black border removal, hole removal, cropping, deskew, and others – are also included with this new version. Captovation will be
demonstrating the new version of ecScan and the entire eCapture product line in
booth number 428 at the 2003 ARMA Conference and Exposition in Boston from
October 19th through October 21st.
ecScan and the rest of the eCapture product suite can be purchased
through Captovation’s eCapture Certified Resellers. About Captovation About
