Captovation, Inc. Announces ecAutoFile Server

New program helps to automate indexing process when using eCapture 4

Minneapolis, MN, April 4, 2000 -- Captovation, Inc. (formerly Complex Imaging Systems, Inc.), which develops the highest quality document and data capture solutions for document management systems, announced today a new, software-based, bar code recognition solution that can file images directly into a document management or workflow system.  The new eCapture component eliminates the need for manual indexing.

ecAutoFile Server uses bar code recognition technology to automatically index electronic images.  The program was designed on the premise that digital bar code recognition is more accurate when compared to optical character recognition (OCR).  ecAutoFile Server runs unattended on a dedicated PC and continually checks for eCapture image batches to process.  The image batches may have been created by using either ecScan or ecNet scanning components.

Any document that contains a bar code can be processed by the ecAutoFile Server.  The program can read an unlimited number of bar codes of any orientation.  ecAutoFile supports a wide variety of  bar code symbologies.  A unique feature that ecAutoFile Server offers is the ability to search external databases. Unique bar code values, such as voucher numbers, social security numbers, and policy numbers, etc., can be used to search corporate databases.  When searching for these unique bar code values, additional document index information such as, vendor names, customer names, and dates, etc., can also be retrieved.

ecAutoFile Server can be set up to process batches based on a schedule.  This enables organizations the ability to reduce network traffic during normal business hours.  ecAutoFile Server is also VBA-compatible which means it can be customized to further suit an organization’s needs.

ecAutoFile is one of the components that make up the eCapture suite of document and data capture tools.  There are currently two versions of eCapture.  One version is eCapture 3.1 for Optika (Nasdaq:OPTK) Acorde.  The latest version, eCapture 4, can be integrated into any document management or workflow system.
