Captovation
Announces Integration Between eCapture and Minneapolis, MN, August 4, 2003 -- Captovation, a leading provider of production-level and browser-based document capture software, announced today direct integration support between their flagship software product eCapture™, and the OnBase® integrated document management system developed by Hyland Software (www.onbase.com). Captovation will now be recognized as a Hyland Technology Partner, which among other things will allow them to market their eCapture software directly to OnBase resellers. “OnBase is recognized as an industry-leading document management system, and it is our intention to integrate our flagship eCapture product with such systems,” said Ken Peterka, President and CEO of Captovation, Inc. “eCapture offers both OnBase resellers and customers additional document capture features that will streamline their current document capture processes.” OnBase software combines the technologies of document imaging, COLD/ERM, document management, and workflow into a single, enterprise-class application. It has the ability to manage any kind of document and to support an unsurpassed range of business applications, including paper, reports, application files, e-mails, and web content. The OnBase software can handle document imaging process – retrieve, revise, annotate, distribute, or post to a website. The integration between eCapture and OnBase is made possible by an eCapture Data Provider (EDP), which Captovation developed and provides for free to OnBase customers that have purchased eCapture. This EDP can be used by all the eCapture components to commit document images and index data into OnBase. When a commit is performed, the EDP moves the document images and their associated index data from eCapture and archives them into OnBase. The eCapture/OnBase integration includes a Template Manager, which allows an administrator to create templates that define data mapping between eCapture and OnBase. The administrator can also decide whether or not the eCapture/OnBase field mappings use either “Static” or “Dynamic” document type options. If Static mapping is selected, all documents from the selected eCapture file cabinet will be committed into a single OnBase document type (e.g., Accounts Payable). If Dynamic mapping is selected, documents can be committed to multiple OnBase document types based on the value of a designated index field. OnBase does come standard with a scanning and indexing interface. However, OnBase users who are looking for increased document capture functionality can purchase third party capture products, such as eCapture, and take advantage of the program’s additional features. eCapture offers browser-based scanning and indexing, monetary check capture (includes check image and MICR - magnetic ink character recognition - data), automated bar code recognition, image import from fax directories and email, and the ability to schedule the document commit process from eCapture to OnBase. Additionally, eCapture supports native-ISIS® scanning from Pixel Translations, VRS® (VirtualReScan) technology from Kofax, and TWAIN-compliant input devices. "Our philosophy is to let the customer choose the capture solution that works best for them,” says Bill Priemer, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Hyland Software. “The advanced features eCapture can offer organizations seeking data and document capture will enhance the OnBase solution and should make their product line a popular choice among many current and prospective customers.” The eCapture suite of document capture modules will be on display in booth number 2 at Hyland Software’s upcoming OnBase Training and Technology Conference that is being held at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotel in Orlando, Florida from September 15th through September 18th, 2003.
