Captovation
Releases eCapture Version 4.4 Minneapolis,
MN, December 31, 2003 --
Captovation, a leading provider of production-level and browser-based document
capture software, released today
the latest version of their flagship eCapture product.
Highlighting the latest version are product enhancements made to the
eCapture components ecScan, ecCommit Server, ecImport Server, and Captovation
Check Capture. Currently,
eCapture’s production-level scanning component, ecScan, supports both ISIS®
and Adrenaline®
scanning interfaces. Both of these
interfaces come with a variety of image processing features, but previously only
ecScan for ISIS supported document image thumbnails.
Thumbnails help to easily distinguish document types during review, and
allow the user to quickly re-order images within a batch via drag-and-drop. This
latest version of eCapture includes thumbnail support for the Adrenaline version
of ecScan as well. ecCommit
Server, which allows users to schedule batch commits into electronic document
management systems (EDMS), now has a new user interface (UI).
The UI is similar to the other eCapture server components, ecImport
Server and ecAutoFile Server. This
was done to make the programs’ UIs more consistent, which helps to reduce
training time. As
the proliferation of document imaging takes place in corporations throughout the
world, transmission of document images between companies is increasing.
For example, images are sometimes sent as attachments via email.
ecImport Server, which can import images from a variety of sources, can
now import image attachments from specified email accounts .
This technology may also be useful for companies using multi-function
copier/scanner devices that have the ability to email images.
These multi-function devices can be used to create a low-cost distributed
capture environment, where ecImport Server is used to import the images into the
eCapture system. An
administrator configures ecImport Server to connect to an email account.
The program then checks for all emails that include image attachments and
retrieves them. The attachments are
then imported into eCapture and made into an eCapture batch where they can be
indexed and The
enhancements to Captovation Check Capture include an itemized check-listing
grid, which displays the relevant MICR data (i.e., Routing Number, Account
Number, Check Number, and Amount) of each check after scanning.
The grid also displays a running total of the number and amount value of
all checks scanned. Banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions can
use the grid to cross-reference the batch total receipt from their encoding
machine. If the batch totals do not
match the batch receipt, Check Capture can be configured to not allow the checks
to be committed into an EDMS. In
an effort to strengthen check scanner support, Captovation Check Capture now
supports the recently released Canon CR-180 check transport.
This check scanner offers duplex scanning speeds of 180 checks per minute
(CPM), a built-in check jogger to keep checks in alignment, and a built-in
imprinter that can add up to 48 characters of endorsement information to a check
as it is scanned. “At
Captovation, we have always been proactive when it comes to improving our
flagship eCapture product,” said Ken Peterka, Captovation’s President and
CEO. “In today’s fast-paced
business world, companies are looking to get as much out of their software as
possible. It is important to us
that eCapture has all the features and functionality they need to improve their
overall business processes.” About
