Minneapolis, MN,
March 26, 2001 -- Captovation,
which develops high-quality document and data capture solutions for document
management systems, released today the latest version of their flagship product
eCapture. Highlighting the release
is a new eCapture component called ecImport Server.
This component can import images from applications such as: incoming
faxes, images from microfiche conversions, images from multi-function copiers,
and images scanned using third-party software. ecImport Server works by converting imported images into eCapture batches where they can be indexed using ecIndex™ or ecAutoFile Server™. After indexing, the document images are then filed into a designated document management or workflow system. ecImport Server can import images from multiple network folders and subfolders, or by using an ASCII list file. ecImport Server also features support for multiple page TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) files, and will validate image integrity during the import process. The program will also send out an email notification in case of critical errors. The latest version of eCapture also includes a new eCapture security model that allows eCapture to be easily installed in a non-Windows domain environment (e.g., Novell or standalone). In addition, the eCapture setup program is now based on the Windows 2000 installer. This new installer provides the user with the ability to modify and repair an installation. eCapture is a suite of tools consisting of six components. The tools include: ecScan (production-level scanning), ecIndex (production-level indexing), ecNet (distributed, web-based capture), ecAutoFile Server (bar code recognition server), ecCommit Server (schedule batch commits), and ecImport Server (import images directly into eCapture). eCapture is a modular capture
system and can be implemented in a variety of ways.
Companies can use eCapture in high-volume capture environments, remote
capture environments, or a combination of the two.
For example, a company with many remote offices, such as an insurance
company, can use ecNet to scan claim documents at their remote offices, and then
use ecIndex to index and begin processing the claim documents About
