DocuWare
Certifies Captovation’s eCapture with DocuWare 4.5
Minneapolis,
MN, June 4, 2003
-- Captovation, a leading provider of production-level and browser-based
document capture software, announced today that their flagship eCapture product
has passed DocuWare compatibility testing.
Captovation will now be recognized throughout the DocuWare channel as a
company with an enabling software technology that has been tested and certified
to work with DocuWare 4.5. Specifically,
Captovation’s eCapture Data Provider (EDP) was tested at DocuWare AG –
DocuWare’s parent company – located in Munich, Germany.
A DocuWare technician conducted tests on the eCapture modules that use
this EDP to perform a document image/index data commit into the DocuWare
document management system. “Our
rigorous software certification testing helps ensure compatibility between third
party products and the DocuWare document management system,” said Gregory
Schloemer, President of DocuWare Corporation.
“It also gives DocuWare resellers and customers a sense of security
when purchasing such products as eCapture, which they can use with their current
DocuWare system.” When
a document is archived from eCapture to DocuWare, the EDP will first verify that
the eCapture file cabinet names, corresponding field names, and field data types
are compatible with those defined in DocuWare. Then, the EDP imports the document images from eCapture into
a DocuWare Basket where they are temporarily stored. The document images and index data are then archived into the
respective DocuWare file cabinet. Currently,
DocuWare 4.5 comes standard with a scanning and indexing interface. However,
DocuWare users who are looking for increased document capture functionality can
purchase eCapture and take advantage of the program’s additional features,
which include browser-based scanning and indexing, monetary check capture
(includes check image and MICR - magnetic ink character recognition - data),
automated bar code recognition, image import from fax directories and email, and
the ability to schedule the document commit process from eCapture to DocuWare.
Additionally, eCapture supports native-ISIS®
scanning from Pixel Translations and VRS®
(VirtualReScan) technology from Kofax. Captovation
and DocuWare resellers that have already integrated the two systems include: AMI
Imaging Systems of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Word-Tech Business Systems of
Mission, Kansas; and Imaging Solutions Company of Wichita, Kansas.
This certification will enable Captovation to expand on its current
DocuWare reseller base – DocuWare has over 400 resellers worldwide. "eCapture's extensive document capture functionality will benefit DocuWare customers and resellers alike," said Ken Peterka, President and CEO of Captovation, Inc. "In fact, eCapture’s distributed capture capabilities have already proven to open new doors of opportunities for DocuWare resellers.” About
