Captovation and Westbrook
Technologies, Developers of Fortis Document Management, Minneapolis, MN and Branford, CT, August 29, 2007 -- Captovation, a developer of document and check capture software, and Westbrook Technologies, a leader in enterprise document management software for the mid-market, today announced a strategic partnership that provides Westbrook with worldwide distribution rights to Captovation’s award-winning document capture system – Captovation® Capture. Under the terms of the agreement, Westbrook will distribute Captovation Capture through its existing channel of value added resellers (VARs), and will have the ability to resell Captovation Capture directly to end-user clients. Westbrook’s professional services division will provide system consulting, design, implementation, integration, and training for Captovation Capture installations. “Establishing strategic partnerships is very important in this industry, and Captovation’s reputation for delivering innovative, reliable and customer-friendly capture software makes them an excellent company to partner with,” said Brent Wesler, Westbrook’s director of professional services. “I feel this agreement creates new revenue generating opportunities for both companies and further strengthens each company’s stance amongst other document imaging software providers.” This business relationship was formed after Westbrook conducted extensive research to find a third-party document capture software system that not only complemented their Fortis document management system, but most importantly, provided both distributed capture and check imaging functionality. According to Harvey Spencer Associates, a leading document capture research firm, the batch and distributed capture segment grew by 23% in 2005 and 2006 in a capture market worth an estimated $1.3 billion. Westbrook will now be better positioned to respond to the rapid growth of distributed capture by offering Captovation® Web Capture to its VARs and end-users under the following remarketed product: · Fortis Remote Capture: a browser-based scan and index module requiring no manual software installation. Fortis Remote Capture supports TWAIN-compliant scanners or other input devices, and provides three methods of remote capture: scan documents, scan and index documents, or scan and index batches. Fortis Remote Capture features database linking and database linked pick lists to help reduce remote data entry requirements. Westbrook’s success in implementing Fortis document management within accounts receivable (A/R) departments across many different verticals helped them uncover the business need for check imaging and remote deposit capture. Remote deposit capture, which is covered by the Check 21 Act, gives organizations the ability to scan their checks and electronically submit the check images and associated data to their bank for deposit. Captovation® Check Capture provides this functionality, and Westbrook will remarket the product under the following name: · Fortis Check21: enables accounts receivable, finance and banking customers to optimize their check processing procedures. Fortis Check21 provides one system for check image capture, encoding via CAR/LAR technology, image cash letter (ICL) creation, and facilitating the electronic transfer of checks to a check clearinghouse for payment or a bank for electronic deposit. Integration between Captovation Capture and the Fortis document management products is accomplished through a Westbrook provided integration. "Westbrook and Captovation bring together a wealth of industry and product knowledge as well enabling, complementary technologies that will help our joint customers effectively manage and control all the content that enters their workplaces," said Ken Peterka, president and chief executive officer of Captovation, Inc. "We are very excited about the new opportunities this relationship will uncover, and we look forward to strengthening and growing our relationship with such a respected document management solutions provider as Westbrook."
