Captovation
Announces Support for Canon imageRUNNER Multifunction Devices
Canon
imageRunner support strengthens Captovation Web Capture as a
distributed capture system suitable for enterprise deployment
Minneapolis, MN,
July 12, 2007 --
Captovation, a developer of document and check capture software, today
announced integration support between its distributed capture software -
Captovation® Web Capture - and Canon imageRUNNER®
multifunction devices (MFDs) that scan, print, copy and fax documents.
Configuring Web Capture to utilize an imageRUNNER as a scanning device
simply involves installing the appropriate Canon ScanGear software. Web
Capture users then utilize the ScanGear’s TWAIN driver user interface to
search for and select any available device on the network. The MFD
selected by a user becomes the default scanning device for their
workstation.
Image Access, a
Captovation VAR (value-added reseller), confirmed integration support by
testing Web Capture with three imageRUNNER models: C3380, 4570, and the
C5180. Their tests demonstrated Web Capture’s ability to initiate
document scanning from a Web Capture workstation or from the imageRUNNER
itself. After scanning, users can review and index the document images
within Web Capture, preparing them for electronic archival within
virtually any enterprise document management system.
Traditionally,
office workers have used the scanning capabilities of an MFD to scan to
an email inbox or network folder. Sharing and storing documents in this
manner is conducive in office environments where one-to-one or
one-to-few communication takes place, but this method lacks the business
benefits of a document management system.
Organizations
looking to deploy distributed capture systems at their remote offices
can further leverage their MFD investments by integrating Captovation
Web Capture. Web Capture does not require manual software installation
and runs entirely within a web browser. This means organizations will
be able to quickly begin capturing documents at all content creation
points, and in turn, get documents into workflow faster, expedite
information sharing, and improve overall document management throughout
the enterprise.
“Web Capture’s user
interface, feature set and ease-of-installation make it a viable
distributed capture system for any office utilizing a Canon imageRUNNER
device,” said Brian Salles, Senior Systems Engineer at Image Access who
conducted the Web Capture/imageRUNNER testing. “We are excited to offer
our clients the distributed capture capabilities Captovation Web Capture
provides.”
